A 'wooden wendy house' refers to just the cladding used to keep the weather out- all Wendy houses, even Nutec, are wooden underneath.
In nearly all cases the wood used to clad wooden wendy houses is treated SA pine. The pine is locally sourced, usually from the removal of old pine plantations to make way for the regeneration of indiginous flora and fauna. It is treated to specific SABS standards making it very durable- if maintained correctly, wooden wendy house structures will, and do, last for many years.
All this makes using wooden boards for the cladding or a timber framed structure incredibly cost effective and sustainable, though some maintainence will be involved- it certainly isn't as forgiving as Nutec in that regard.
Treate pine boards are proven to stand up to Cape Town's harsh climate- they are:
A great way to build if you are on a budget, need the structure for less time (like a temporary site office), or really need that traditional wooden look.
Treated pine boards are only a cladding. They are there to keep the weather out, not to create strength and rigidity. All the strength and rigidity comes from our timber frame construction process.
SABS and local building regulations are very clear on the minimum required standards for building a timber framed structure suitable for pine cladding, and we take those as our minimum requirements when building. These range from the correct treated timbers to use, thickness of materials, and the spacing of things like joists and roof beams.
Mainly, frames are made using locally sourced treated pine timber. Properly erected and clad these structures are proven to be incredibly durable and long lasting. However, if required we can also build frames from locally sourced hardwoods such as Saligna.
Timber frames are perfect for both permanent and temporary Wendy house style construction- they:
We pride ourselves on the professional quality of our timber frames.
To turn a wooden wendy house into a home you need electricity- shocking, we know. Its hard to imagine life without it, and in Cape Town its more than likely you will be tapping into the City's grid for your juice.
Even a simple shed sometimes needs a light fitting, and whilst you might get away with running an extension cord from another point if you intend using the structure for anything more involved, such as a home office, or a garden cottage to live in, or even a full size home, you are going to need reliable, safe, legal electrical installations.
And our electricians can do that for you
All work is safe, complies with SABS and local building codes, and is done by a qualified professional. Certified and guaranteed.
Let our qualified expert electricians take the stress out of turning your wooden home on.
If water is invovled in creating your Wooden Wendy house then it needs to be going where its supposed to be going, for as long as you need it to- leaks in a wooden structure are not a good thing- even a little drip can be structurally damaging very quickly.
That is why it is essential, even more so than in a traditional brick structure, that all plumbing is done absolutely correctly first time. Whether its a simple tap for the garden, or a fully installed kitchen and bathroom for a large wooden home, it simply has to be done correctly.
And our qualified plumbers have the experience.
All work is done by qualified professional plumbers and complies with SABS and local building regulations. It is legal, certified, and guaranteed.
When you want to use a wooden wendy house as living or working space you can't just have a garden shed inside. You need the ceiling covering, the walls insulated and lined, and partition walls creating. Then you will want finishing touches such as cornicing, tiling, painting, etc.
If you want a fully finished home or office ready to move into, including bathrooms, kitchens and more, then our team of decorators, carpenters, and other tradesmen are able and willing to give you your dream interior.

Regulatory standards, by-laws, and national laws are there for a reason. They ensure that structures are built to a minimum standard that is safe and fair. We take SABS and local requirements as our minimum requirement- seeking to exceed them where we think we can do better.
Part of our professional standards- we turn up when we say, do what we say we will do, at the price we say we will do it. And to a standard that means our Wendy houses are as reliable as we are- providing quality service for years to come. We want our clients be able to trust us and our Wendy houses.
